Would a bp refuse f/t food if the mouse (gross)

guts came out a little? He struck and got it and he had it in his mouth next time I went to check he was coiled around it with his mouth up in the air. With some guts/brownish slime kind of on him and still the mouth. He kept opening his mouth like he had a bad taste and his head was really high in the air. I tried to take a pic and now he just left it and is acting weird. Although he was acting weird all day. In a new place not his hides and not a place I had ever seen him. Then up in the air on the fake leaves. I assumed it was because it is feeding day and he was hungry? Temps and humidity are the same.

Hmmm. Yeah it was really weird. I wonder if this has happened to anyone else? I wonder if I should try to feed him again today with another f/t mouse. I through the other one away.

I only tried f/t for a couple of weeks before giving it up. I did have 2 mice pop with different snakes, and both refused to eat them. That's pretty limited experience, so I don't know if it will help you out any!

Thanks. He had done so great the last 2 Fridays, so I wasn't expecting this.

Some BP will eat even with the gut sticking out; may I ask how you thaw the prey?

From my experience when you thaw the prey too fast such as placing them in warm water to thaw, you increase the risk of them exploding when constricted.

The way I do it now is that I thaw the prey at room temp so it thaws nice and slow (also pre-scent the room which entice my gang to eat), once thawed I just warm the prey up with a hair dryer for 30 second.

    Hope this help.

I have tried different methods when he was refusing, but the last 3 weeks I thawed room temp for several hours then put it in hot water still in the baggie so it wouldn't get wet. It seemed to work well the last 2 weeks but I don't know if it was too hot this time or thawed too long. I think I will try the blow-dryer after thawing instead of the hot water. You think I should try tonight to try to stay on schedule? He seemed to be so confused at the situation. He is still a baby!

Well, he just ate so I guess he forgot about last night's bad experience.
