    Thanks to bailey reptiles

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! your instructions on building a cb-70 rack worked out. i went to my parents house over easter and while i was there went and bought all the wood at home depot and thought id give it a try.. be in mind im not to good with cutting and building wooden style objects, anyway i built it and i couldnt bring it back home that day cause it was late and i dont have a truck. i thought it was gonna be way to small for the tubs i left at my house. well i come home from work and BAM its on my driveway. seems my father drove down and dropped it off for me. well i brought it in and got one of my iris cb70 tubs and tested it out. perfect fit! it only has 7 slots and its 6feet high. but i like it alot and i plan on building more... (in about 50 years) when i get enough money for more BP's. well just ordered the flexwatt from reptilebasics.com and when it gets here i will transfer snakes over as soon as i get the temps right.
only question i got is, what is the best thermostat? i hear helix but i unno. is there something i can use temporarily with the flexwatt that wont burn it up? i have a repti temp 500R thermostat that has 2 spots for 2 plugs. think that will work if the connectors get put on flexwatt? i think it would in conjuction with my accurite thermometers measuring temps. what do you all think?

as far as the hides for a cb70 those black colored tubs that look all nice with entrances that everyone use's, what size for a 5 foot BP? large? extra large?

just wanted to say thanks muddoc for that walkthrough. it was very helpful and i enjoyed it alot. only question is i wanted to use the expanded PVC, but i went to home depot and they all looked at me like i was dumb or something. they sold me some plexi glass which i dont think thats what you used.
    THANK YOU SO MUCH!
p.s. that last supply on list was the most useful out of all of it

    K80tik,
Glad I could be of help. I hope you fill taht rack up as soon as possible, that's what I seem to do. I should go back in my DIY and make a note that you won't find expanded PVC at Home Depot. The expanded PVC is harder to come by than the plastic hardware mesh that we used to use. You have to get expanded PVC from some type of plastics company, usually. At any rate, I'm glad that even with little skill in woodworking, you were able to assemble the rack. That was the goal of my DIY pages.
    Congrats and Good Luck,

If your using flexwatt I recommend using a proportional thermostat such as helix or herpstat (from spyder robotics) You can wire the flex watt in each shelf to have a seperate plug, or wire the shelfs 'in series and just have one plug.

Sometime you can find thermostats that come pre wired with a powerstrip
    which helps alot

I use ranco's they are a work horse! They are On/Off style which some people dont like, deff. not for use in incubators because they can vary by one degree, but the rancos are great plus you can buy a double ranco setup all wired up with power strip for less that one helix

try www.mgreptiles.com for cheap thermostat prices as well as flexwatt.

The 500R should work fine as long as it's well under 500 watts of flexwatt.

If Ranco's work, then the 500R will work, just won't be as precise.

I'm currently using a ZooMed500R powering 2 pieces of flexwatt on a sterilite tub for my BP,

I'm getting a Herpstat for my new rack, but might use a 500R until I get the Herpstat.
