    tattoo artists?

I was thinking that someone on here was one, but I can't remember who.. My man has started working at a local shop (Stylin' Tattoo) on the weekends.. I am just looking for advice and anything else you can think of; good/bad inks, etc. We just bought a nice Micky Sharpz machine; wow is it cool!

Mickey Sharpz, nice. Is he apprenticing? I'm just learning myself, but I do a lot of research and question asking whenever I get into something, so I'll say what I can. Starbright is a favorate, but I don't like it because it's too thin. It does hold bright colors well. Some people like Intenze Ink. It hasn't been around long enough to see how it will hold up down the road, but it's looking good so far. I personally like thicker ink and stick with Intenze or Millennium uncut or only slightly cut. For black I use Kuro-Sumi. I would suggest him using what his teacher uses and when he is tattooing on his own he can switch one or two colors to a different brand and see how he likes them. He can mess around with a different brands color and try them while still mainly using what he knows works and what he is used to.

I used to tattoo but I haven't in awhile
I'm not much of a people person so it was kind of a deal breaker for me

Ok, it was you that was the resident tattoo artist
He is pretty well past the apprentice stage.. he used to have a shop for a brief time when we first got together, but the wondeful Buffalo, NY councilpeople made him close b/c he was beside a high school.. (this, after permitting him to pay all the fees, renovate the building he was buying, and open there to begin with...) He got out of it for a few years, and now runs a property management and renovation firm, but his heart is in tattooing. He got the job where he is at friday and saturday because my best friend's husband works there and they are Completely Swamped on the weekends..
We plan to eventually open a shop. he would tattoo and have people under him, and I would be in charge of all the numbers, bookkeeping, the register.. this is our dream but I know that it is going to take some years. I know of one artist who is local and does stunning work, and he pulls in well over 100k a year.
Jenn, I am similar to you there. I tattooed a few people (Mark being one; my ex another, hehe) and my heart isn't in it because I am terrified of messing up.. now, when I draw or paint, I mess up all the time and can just erase or paint over (I am not fond of watercolors, lol.) But who knows; maybe one day I can help out in that regard.. I highly love drawing flash for people though! I have drawn about 10 pieces for various people.

    Re: tattoo artists?

Good luck to you both. I'm learning and practicing as much as I can. I've always been really good at drawing and painting, and I'm really into portrait work. My goal is to keep at it and eventually (long eventually, since I have yet to breed a single python) make enough money breeding BPs to quit my job and work with my snakes full time. This would give me enough spare time to really dive into art classes and tattooing. My ultimate goal is to be among the best artists out there. I personally know someone who only works every other week tattooing and he brings in over $200k a year, and I know of others who bang it out 10 hours a day year around and are millionaires. I'd personally be happy with $60k a year working full time as long as you think of the best when you hear my name.
