    probe placement

i have an accurite thermometer in my tub, and i have the unit on the cold side, and the probe on the warm side. the question is where should the probe lay? should i bury it in the substrate or lay it on top of it? my little girl likes to curl around it and mess with the readings...

I like to place the probe in the warm side hide. You can bury it under a little bit of substrate, or just leave it loose. The warm side hide temps can often be quite a bit warmer than outside of the hide.
