    feeding eggs

has anyone heard of a bp eating eggs (not their own)? a friend of mine feeds her corn snake finch eggs and it seems to like them. she has some finichs that seem to lay eggs alot so she tried putting one in the tank, and the corn took it. i have never heard of bp's eating eggs but just want to hear from more experienced owners.

I have a question in response to that:

Where the hell do you buy Finch eggs?

No no, he has a finch, who lays eggs, that the snake then eats.

No, they do not. Most snakes will not eat eggs. Maybe out in the wild some species of snakes do but the only true egg eating snake is the African Egg Eating Snake: http://www.centralpets.com/animals/r...s/snk2887.html

    Re: feeding eggs

I guess an egg would have about the same nutrients as a chick, so I guess if the corn eats em it's fine.

    Re: feeding eggs

Ratsnakes are know for eating eggs, it is part of their natural diet, ratsnakes (which includes corns) are often found climbing trees trying to get to bird's nests. hope that helps.

    Re: feeding eggs

im just worried about the shell of the egg. i read about this one snake that swallows the egg, then it crushes it, and spits out the shell. im not going to try it, im just gettin my lil guy to eat adult mice, i was just wondering if anyone heard about doing this.

    Re: feeding eggs

I can't imagine that it spits it out. I know that you can feed chickens egg shells because of the nutrients. I'd imagine that the snake would digest it just fine.

    Re: feeding eggs

My female bp must have eaten eggs and not crushed them? She pooped these out the other day! I'm just incubating them to see what kind of animal it was? Maybe a robin, or a bluejay? Thay are kind of big though, Maybe an exotic parrot of some sort? Owell Time will tell LOL!!
