    F/T Rodents: dry or wet?

i always thought that a snake wouldnt take a wet f/t rodent. i read it in some ball python book somewhere. but i know that there are people out there who put the frozen rodent in warm water without placing it in a bag first and then feed the snake a wet thawed rodent.

i personally feed dry thawed rats to my snakes. what do you feed and why?

I don't think it makes a big difference through the snakes eyes. But I like when they stay dry because I hate that wet mouse smell.

I feed whatever the bag produces. I seem to have horrible luck with water leaking into the bag. Personally I think wet f/t makes the swallowing process easier and it gives my BP extra water that he wouldnt normally get.

Re: F/T Rodents: dry or wet?

i used to keep them dry... and then i read a thread where many people said they just put the prey item into the hot water to thaw... so i tried it and everyone ate...

that's the way i do it, when i use f/t as it's easier/quicker for me.

I thaw w/o a bag then pat it dry, the thought of wet meat doesn't seem very appetizing.
