    New baby ball

So i have been looking into a snake for a while now and finally got my setup together. I went to my local mall type pet store and the balls there were practically dead. There was no heat source and the lady in the store wouldn't even sell it to me if i didn't pick it up for her. They had that starved triangle shape to them so i passed. I called up a local petsmart and found one had just got a nice collection of them. So i went to pic up my first ever snake. Its name is Ari and i dont know the sex of it. He/she is just chillin and checking out its new home. Still a little skittish when i touch, but seems to be settling down ok.

Welcome to the forum! Great looking snake you have there, and congratulations on being a first time Ball owner. Just don't be surprised if you start wanting more.

Yeah i was real upset by the way they were treated. It seems like they dont treat any of their animals nicely there. I wanted to do the rescue buy thing and try to help these snakes, but they looked to far gone. I pick one up and it was almost limp. It barely squeezed my hand, really sad. Anyways... im glad i found this little guy. I hope he/she grows bigger and i can get my hands on another one or two. I would really like to try my hand at breeding these beauts.

Haha, already typing the comment about wanting more. I've just had this one for a couple hours and I already have future "plans"

    Re: New baby ball

Congrats on your first BP! I'm glad you didn't buy from that awful pet store as unfortunately while you may save a snake they will just figure they have a market and get more in to abuse and neglect. Also you would have likely ended up with vet bills and a lot of stress and worry with a snake in that bad shape. If it is a really bad pet store you might want to notifiy Animal Care and Control about conditions there.

Yes Ari is a little snake. Just a little over a foot long i would say. My setup right now consists of a ten gallon tank with coco coir as a substrate. I have a hide each in the warm corner and the hot corner, a bowl of water on the cold side and a branch in diagonally across the tank. My temperature under the lamp is reading 94 right now and about 53 percent humidity. I know the temp is a little high and im gonna have to do something about it. I dont want my snake to get burnt. Hmm anyways... i'll take a picture and put it up.
