    Butt First

I just fed Jafar this afternoon and he took both mice butt first. I usually feed him an adult mouse but the pet store was out so I fed him two hoppers instead. I usually feed live as well but decided to try f/t. He took both with little effort but ate them BOTH backwards. Does anyone elses bp do this? When i fed him live he took them normally but this was a little weird. Any reasons how he could get this mixed up?

It happens from time to time. And I imagine if the prey is smaller than usual, it may happen even more often. It may look like more trouble for the snake...but it's their choice.

Next feeding when warming up the prey make sure the head is warm too, because your BP likely ate the mice backward due to the lack of heat signal coming from the head.

No big deal, it happens,it just makes it a little more difficult and takes a little longer for him to eat the prey that way.

What is the best way to thaw the mice out. I put them both in a ziplock and put them in warm water for an hour and a half or so. Is there a better way to do this?

So cute!! I've seen it a few times here. Last night my female boa took her large rat snack butt first aswell. The meal was likely smaller than usual as already said

Thaw the mice at room temp so they thaw nice and slow decreasing the risk of them exploding when constricted by your BP, then take a hair dryer to warm it up for about 30 second.
