oh no. my bp got out.....help!

my first time coming home to a empty tank....hellllllllp!

    I live in a 2 story house.

downstairs = laundry room, dining room, living room & kitchen. one 1/2 bath and a stair case...all my doors are sealed so I know she couldnt of gotten outside. i looked behind and under the couch and all over the rooms, also looked behind the washer and dryer, under the stove and behind the refrig.

any clues on where they like to hide? and is it possible she would climb a flight of stairs with a double landing?

    crap crap crap....

Re: oh no. my bp got out.....help!

I JUST finished typing this in another thread...so I'll just c&p it here for you:

Most often, BP's are found within 10-15 feet of their enclosures. Start your search where the cage is, and very slowly work your way out in wider circles. Check every possible nook and cranny, every crevice and hole. If it seems too small to possibly allow your BP to get in or through...check there! They have unbelievable abilities to squeeze through/into the smallest spaces.

Use a flashlight and carefully check behind every drawer and under every piece of furniture...inside every shoe...behind the toilet (seen pics of a BP crammed into the narrow space between the toilet tank and the wall!)...in or around anything warm like a computer tower or appliance. And I've heard many stories about someone turning a room upside-down/inside-out and not finding the snake...doing it again....and on the third try finding the snake behind a dresser drawer 4' from the cage....just to help you realize how easy it is to overlook them when they're really trying to hide.

Re: oh no. my bp got out.....help!

Even a 4' long bp can and will cram themselves into crazy-small places. What room was the cage located in?

Here's the other thread I mentioned:

    http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=45270

We've got several "escape" threads that have more information in them though...I"ll see if I can track some down and give you links to them.

Re: oh no. my bp got out.....help!

my downstairs is kinda small. the tank is in the living room.

being pretty much financially strapped, thankfully in this case, we dont have a lot of furniture.

i appreciate the help. I cant flip the couch over by myself, im waiting for my bf to come home. normally if i have her out she tries to go to the couch.... but for fear of her being in there i dont wanna dump it over myself....so very unpatiently waiting.

thanks for your help btw. this is my first escape.

Re: oh no. my bp got out.....help!

Here's a thread that has lots of different ideas and techniques for finding an escaped snake:

    http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=35923

And if you use the site's Search function, keyword: escaped ...you'll find lots more.

Check under all the cushions of the couch...and you may have to rip out the lining underneath it to see if she crawled up inside it.

Just keep looking. It's possible for her to go upstairs, but I would bet real money on her having stayed downstairs.

Yay! Glad to hear you found her! Haha As I was reading this I was thinking that I needed to check my escaped post then realized that the link up there was it (well one of them ) Get some clips for your cage and lock her butt in there!!! That's what I'm going to do as soon as I find my girly. ^_^
