    Shedding missed some spots?

my python just shed the other day, while i was holding him acually. he started digging his head into my hand, adorable lil guy. So anyway after he finished i sprayed him with reptile vitamin spray, now the next day i look and it seems like some of those little squares here and there are spots of shed that have not come off. They look like a little faded dots. I soaked him and after about 4-5min i rubbed it a bit got nothing...any ideas? i tride getting pics but they do not show up in the picture.

    Re: Shedding missed some spots?

Set him a tupperware bowl with a tight cover with holes to breath. Add about 1/2 inch of WARM water ( so the snake is not floating ) set the bowl over your UTH for an hour. When you dry him, let him slide threw the towel. See if this helps. If not try it again.
I wouldn,t have held him while he was shedding. Alot of stress during shedding, better off leaving them alone.

just to be clear. Put him in a bowl with water for an hour. than let him slither threw a towel for a bit basicaly?

about the shedding i was just holding him to clean out some stuff in his tank and he just started sheddin, i dunno why but it seems like he always waits to do things for when i pick him up lol. i didnt hold him during the whole proccess though once things were cleaned i put him back in the tank and sprayed it good and plenty.

Yes, that should work. Sorry, it sounded like you held him during the shed. Didn't read it right. Sorry

To make sure - about 1/2 an inch, so he's not swimming.

    Re: Shedding missed some spots?

ok cool, and no worries i learned something lol, ive heard its bad to handle them during any phase of the shedding procces, especially when there eyes cloud up because they are aggressive, but i did a couple times and he acually seemed very comfortable and cuddled up in my hand.
One question though, are snakes usually smart enough to keep themselves from downing? i keep watchin ghim in there to make sure his head doesnt go under.

You can also wet a paper towel or wash clothe if you get keep an eye on him. Just dampen it and let him sit on that.

    Re: Shedding missed some spots?

ok, im watchin him for now, if that doesnt work ill let him slither around in a wet pillow case, if that doesnt work ill aimt my humidifier in his hide and let him sit there for a bit, if that doesnt change anything, all i can come up with is that is his skin....

If this doesn't work, wait for the next shed. Keep the humidity up.

    Re: Shedding missed some spots?

ive never dealt with a stuck shed I couldnt get off after soaking the snake and just using my hands to get it off. Just keep soaking him everyday and chances he will get it off on his own, or try rubbing it off with your fingers again. The way your describing it, it may not even be a stuck shed but his skin like you said.

I definlty wouldnt leave the snake in water unattended, they are pretty good about not drowning but there is always a risk. I soak my python in the tub in about 1/2 to 1 inch of water and the other day I left for a minute and she climbed out of the tub and found her behind the toilet. She was never big enough to do this until now.
