The Craigslist files....
Okay, there was an ad on CL for an '04 100% het albino female. I thought what the heck, I'd ask about her even though I wouldn't be able to get her even if it was legit.
So, I emailed and this came back. Now, is it me, or is the idea of an '04 being 'about a pound' (which equals about 500grams if I'm right) kinda wrong? I don't know, I guess something just seems wonky about all this.
Anyway
"First off, thank you all for the inquires about this ball python girl. I'm going to send this email to all who inquried answering all questions at once. If you are still interested after questions asked, please let me know or if anyone has more questions.
Information as I know of
Date of Birth: January 2004
Bought: early 2005, guessing February online thru Kingsnake classifieds
Age: 3 years old
Orginial paperwork is available. Was bought with a three het group and had made copies when I sold the boy and other girl. The original paperwork will go to the new owner.
Breeder: Bill Nelvin
she is the last of the three group for sale.
Reason of selling: I've turned my attention to spider ball pythons right now and because of her picky eating behavior keeps her from plumping up to breeding size. I feel that someone who would like to spend the time and patience to plump her up to breeding status may do her better. With all my other projects, I just don't have the extra time to try and plump her up.
She was probed late last year of 06 as a female. I had to be sure anyways since I was selling the het albino male and wanted to be sure the right snake was going out on that sale.
I am looking firmly on cash and no trades of right now due to other personal reasons for needing the cash now.
She is not proven yet since I havent been able to get her up to weight. But has paperwork to go with. I just havent had the chance to get her up to weight to prove her out.
Feeding information
This is another reason why I'm selling her at this time. She loves live food only, does not care about frozen thawed at the moment. She did at once. She does not like to be watched when hunting or eating. She will eat weirdly, where she once at 1 live adult mouse, than 2 adult mouse, than 3 adult mouse, 1 small rat,
She also chooses when she feels like it, last winter she decided to stop eating for me for about four months and than ate around late spring again. She ate weekly at first, than skipped weeks, and than does as she feels like it. You really have to be patience when it comes to feeding this girl. Because of her feeding response, she is not close to breeding size at all, if I estimate, it might take another year to get her up unless you are hardcore to work with her on her feeding than she might be ready by late 07 or 08.
I dont have a scale big enough to weigh her but im guessing she is about pound or over, I will be going to the petstore to borrow their weight scale this monday to get an accurate weight but do know she is not breeding size. She can be within the year if your dedicated. That is why she can only go to a real serious owner who understands this.
She has cage aggression, where she will strike at you all day thru the cage, but once taken out of her tank, she is just fine. I feed my snakes in their tanks except my red tails, but she is the only one who is hissy out of all my balls. She does not like her head touched. I got them when they were about a year old, and even than she was not use of handling. She is not too bad now, well out of her cage anyways.
i feed her live adult mice, offering her 1-2 mice a week. If I find a small enough rat, I offer that first. To better understand her feeding, here is a list of her eating records I keep.
12-1-06 ate 2 live mice
12-7-06 ate 2 live mice
12-14-06 ate Small live rat
1-19-07 ate 1 live mouse
3-3-07 ate 1 wealning live rat
So there is an example how odd she is when it comes to eating, but not uncommon for ball pythons. But if you have the extra time and money to dedicate, I bet anyone could get her eating well.
Now for the most important questions:
adoption fee: $600.00 (based on her age and size which isnt too bad since new babies are 400.00)
If you have more questions, please feel free to ask away. I am in no hurry to move her out. I would put her on kingsnake.com, but is easier if I can do local sale to avoid shipping hassle. If you have breedable size females, trading for 3-4 over 1000 gram females would be considered, but firmly most on cash to put towards a new project. If you have something else in mind, go ahead and shot it my way, the worst I can say is no.
For the one asking about enclosure. I can send her 10 gallon tank, lid, locks, waterdish, and lamp with bulb out. Can also send out a mouse or two for her next feeding, you might be able to get her to eat a small rat.
Ok, hopefully I answered everyone's questions. Please email me only if you are still interested. If emailing me for any other reason after, the email will not be replied to. Thank you for all your patience and questions. Have a great day.
p.s. no access to digital camera, so no pic, i can work to get something up but will try on my busy schedule"

Re: The Craigslist files....
A ten gallon tank with a light.. oh lord... I wonder some days what people are thinking. I'd bet she has a bare ten gallon tank with a 24/7 lightbulb on it.
