    Mice breeding question

I'm trying to breed mice for the first time and I have a few questions. Do mice "get it on" if the female mouse is already pregnant? The reason i'm asking is i've had this pair of mice for a week or so and I haven't seen it happen once.

The first pair of male/female mice I bought I saw it within 30 minutes of putting them in the cage. They died and then I bought a new male/female.

Is there any way to tell if the female is pregnant? The belly doesn't look abnormally big. I weighted them both and the male weights 16g and the female weights 18g.

    Thanks

    Re: Mice breeding question

Once the female knows she's pregnant she won't allow any mating although she can begin mating again right after she gives birth. It's hard to tell when a mouse is pregnant until the last few days where you will see her getting a little plump and a noticable rounded stomach. Where the mice living together when you got them?

Nothing yet, i'm giving them a 2 month time limit too before they end up as food.

I thought this would make a cute pic:
