    Breeders: Are your BPs insured?

    Just another newb "out-of-curiousity" question...

With the prices of some morphs comparable to luxury automobiles, I was wondering if you guys insure your snakes.

What would the premiums be like? Any stipulations?

    TIA
    Tony

Interesting question. I know quite a few people that have their dogs, cats and horses insured but I've never thought about reptiles.

When I get into the higher end morph I will for sure get insurance if they offer it. You never know with the internet who is watching your collection for you

I could be wrong, but the only company that I know of that would insure reptiles is out of England.

Your snakes are regarded as pets and as such are only worth what you paid for them. So no I don't insure mine would be way to expensive.

i have called most of the major insurance companys and all of wich say no they will not insure them. the only insurance you can have is when you build a facility that is seprate from your house. you can get fire insurance.

oh i did however find health insurance. it is about 80 bucks a month per snake. hahah. huge rip off.

The name of the company is Lloyd's of London. As far as I know, MPenn is correct in stating that they are the only company that will insure your snakes. They will insure anything, and I mean anything. However, for taking on such big risks with alot of the things they insure, the premiums are high. You would be better off saving the money you were planning on spending on insurance premiums and use it in case of an accident.

I belive that's the same with a lot of insurance policies. And don't even get me started on social security. If we were allowed to not pay into SS then instead put all that money into an IRA or even a H.Y.M.M. account, most of us could retire early as millionaires.
