    Urgent Help Required!!!!!

I have just managed to save a BP from one of my sisters friends. It is 2 1/2 years old and is feeding and handling realy well. The problem realy is i cannot find on the net what is the best kind of enclosure to keep him in. Just now i have a 3ft long glass vivarium with a heat pad at on side. one side has wood chips and the other astroturf. i have a basking lamp but have heard alot of stories about BPs receiving burns from them. is the heat pad enough?? also he is around 2 feet and looking at some pics on this site he looks a little skinny. is it correct to feed him every 5 days or is this to much. i realy want to give this guy a better life than he has had so far and would appreciate any advice. thanks bryan

    Re: Urgent Help Required!!!!!

    Start by reading this caresheet:

    http://www.ball-pythons.net/modules....warticle&id=52

And then if you have specific questions...we can answer them. A lamp can't burn your snake unless it can come into physical contact with it. So if its in a hood above the screened top of the tank (assuming there is something like that) then it should be safe enough. If there is a bulb or any part of the lamp touching the interior of the enclosure, you need to remove it immediately.

You need to be able to measure the temperatures to know what is adequate for heating. You can get a reliable digital thermostat inexpesnively at Walmart, Target, or a hardware store.

    Welcome to BP.net.

hi and welcome, hopefully this little guy finds a better home with you than he/she had previously. these animals depend solely on us for everything and it is a big responsibility. here is a link to a caresheet which should answer all of your questions. i personally go with a rubbermaid/tote kind of enclosure.

    hope the link works
    good luck!

Go to matalan n get one of their 32ltr rubbermaid type tubs, then a 11'x17' heat mat and a thermostat(i use habistat you can get them in most glasgow pet shops) then slap down some newspaper, two indetical hides a heavy water bowl n you'l be jamming. If your anywhere near clydebank i'll sell u decent digi thermo/hygro with a probe for a fiver!
ps you need to secure the tub lid with a couple of belts or somethin
pps the tubs have a PINK lid but they only cost a fiver so its worth it.
sorry for the ramble but i appear to be on the whiskey again, oops!

    Re: Urgent Help Required!!!!!

Parts of this thread have been split off and sent to The Quarantine Room.

    Here: http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=44488

Hopefully help can be found in this thread without all the critical talk and chastising that follows it. If anyone wishes to continue in that vein, they may follow the link to do so.

Anyone wishing to actually help with the original topic of the thread, please do.

(My apologies to anyone who's posts contained helpful information mixed with the need to split...you may certainly repost pertinent parts if you wish. )

If you don't have access to The Quarantine Room and wish for it, please send a PM to JLC.
