dented eyes

okay, I see many of us newbies have shedding questions. But in going through the threads I haven't found what a "dent" in the eyes during shed means. I think I recall it being related to too low humidity, but can't find a threat to confirm that vague recall. So HELP..why dents, what to do. And will it blind her, mommies in a panic/concerned mode here. She had a very small one once, and I even thought I was seeing it due to the angle. Now I know better. And during shed for sure. Yea usually it means that the snake's cage is too dry. what are you using for substrate? and what are your temps, you may be having low humidity because of low temps or just because the environment is too dry. make sure she has plenty of clean water all the time. hope that helps

Bump the humidity up to 70% durring shed. That should help.

I just rescued a baby yesterday who was very dehydrated with dented eyes. I followed the instructions for taking care of a bad shed and in about an hour his eyes had returned to normal. Basically, use a small container with 1/2- 1 inch of room temperature (not hot) water and a small rag. Put a lid on the top but don't seal it. Leave him in there for about an hour and all the bad sheds should be gone and his eyes will return to normal. Happy snake!

Thanks everybody Chocolate well get a soak. For bedding I use reptile bark. Is there a better humidity inducing bedding, is it okay to keep it damp? Would it make her cold? She had a bad shed, but I soaked her and then loosened ends and it came off by the next day. She isn't eating, but I am giving it a rest for a few days, she is likely stressed. I spray her and the tank atleast twice a day, have fresh water full daily and do the best I can guess-tamating, I need to get the accu-rite, just haven't been able to yet.
