    How Odd???

Okay our two pups, Gunnar and Tank, have apparently taught themselves how to toss a ball to each other! Let's see if I can explain this...

one will grab the Kong ball (the only thing they can't chew up and destroy in 2 seconds), sort of nod their head (much like a horse does), then after a couple of head nods will toss the ball causing it to bounce around, the other dog then goes after it and they have a lovely tussle with much puppy growling

awhile later the other dog will do this...

now Gunnar has always sort of tossed a ball this way but is it possible that Tank can have learned this from Gunnar? It's absolutely hilarious to watch and they amuse themselves for ages playing ball together.

I had a Labrador Retriever years ago that taught herself to play fetch. Whenever we weren't available to toss the ball for her she'd grab it, race to the top of the stairs, toss it hard down the stairs (with this same sort of head nodding business), bark madly and bound down the stairs to fetch it herself, then back up the stairs (she'd happily do this over and over LOL).

Dogs are goofy but sometimes I think smarter than we give them credit for.

    What.... no pics?!?!

It sounds hysterical. I'm sure they are probably throwing the ball back and forth going watch this... I can make the human on the right laugh coffee right out of her nose! It sounds like Tank was a perfect match for Gunnar! Fate works in mysterious ways sometimes.

I tried to take pics but the two doofus dogs have now realized what a camera is. As soon as I get out the camera they both stop and run over to try and lick the lens!

Yep Tank is a good buddy for Gunnar. He's willing to play endlessly with her but since he's a quieter, calmer dog by nature he's also a good influence on her. She's still a brat though. If Tank is laying down quietly and won't play ball with her, she walks over and drops the Kong right on his head! What a brat! Those Kong balls are hard and heavy...I'm sure that isn't terribly nice of her LOL. However, it does get Tank moving and he'll jump up and go play with her (guess it's easier than having a hard ball dropped on your head!)
