How do they keep it clean????

I thought I would post this so I could get some opinions on this. I have visited the Cape Fear Serpentarium in Wilmington, NC two times now and I can't fathom how they keep the enclosures clean. This place has lots of snakes on display. Cobras, Mambas, gaboons, retics, blackhead pythons and many others. The enclosures are huge and naturally decorated with trees, wood, live plants, rocks and misc.

I know there is no possible way to completely disinfect the enclosures. So I guess my question is how do zoos and other places disenfect their enclosures? Do you think that the cleaning habits that I, and other members here practice are "Overkill"?

Same way we do close exibit, remove animals clean cage put animal back

I't takes more people and more time but thats it in a nut shell

If you've got a budget and a staff like a zoo, you can afford to periodically break down and rebuild naturalistic enclosures.

For hobbyists, most of the time, it isn't practical.

Besides...when it comes to cleaning, there's no such thing as overkill in my eyes, especially when you're talking about incredibly small, confined spaces such as a tank or rack system.

I used to volunteer at a zoo and another trick to these "natural" displays is a natural clean up crew. We would spot clean the cages but we also put in worms, snails and other bugs that ate feces and left over food to help with the clean up.
