Once the eggs hatch, what's the next step?

Hubby and I have our first clutch of eggs in the incubator! We still have a few weeks to go before they hatch. So, we are trying to get a game plan ready for what to expect and what we should do once they hatch. I'd love to hear what you all do so I can soak up some of the knowledge! Thanks all!

Re: Once the eggs hatch, what's the next step?

Congrats! That's a great feeling to just watch the eggs and wait, although it can be painfully slow.

Make sure you have all of their individual cages ready. When they do start to hatch, keep them in the incubator until all of them come out. I was removing them one at a time as they came out, and it took forever for the last one to come out. Adam mentioned that he thought the acitivity of the snakes that hatched encouraged the others to come out as well.

Then just give them a bath, pop them, and put them in their cages. After they shed (in a couple weeks) start to feed them a small, live rat pup or mouse hopper.

Oh, and be sure and take lots of pics!!

Thanks! The wait is torture! Hubby is so excited that you'd think I was the one having babies. LOL Trust me, I'll have the camera clicking like crazy once they start hatching!

Your welcome. I plan on following them too, if I'm lucky enough to get a clutch this year.

    Good luck on your clutch.

Not yet.... the eyes just went clear last night, so anytime now. I think I'm going to drive this poor girl crazy by checking on her so often.

EDIT- I swore her eyes were clear last night, but they are still a bit cloudy as of the two times I check on her this morning. Dang my eyes!!
