Just thought I would share some pics of my setup
This a glass 20L. this might help somepeople who are having trouble, but the glass enclosure FAQ is still the best info out there...
Ok I'm runing 2 UTH's on the hot side hooked to one thermostat, I went with 2 to help get the ambient temps up inside the enclosure. The cold side has 1 UTH on it because in the winter my room is in the high 60's. I went with the Zoomed 10-20 gallons size on the hot side, and a 8"x8" on the other (cant remeber the name right now). I was running a Ceramic heat emitter but since it has started warming up i no longer need it, even when i was using it it was on a dial style lamp at a very low setting, i was close but needed a few extra degree's so i used it. I covered the top with plexi glass to help keep in humidity, you can still see the space left open for the CHE in the second pic, I havent decided if I will close it up or not. The humidity is doing ok, but i am misting once a day. I mounted the 2 thermostats on the side of the tank.
I was using the eco earth brick style substrate but it was so messy i changed over to a repti carpet. This is soooooo much easier to clean and spot poop on. However it doesnt hold humidity as well. That brick stuff holds humidity extremely well, I was misting once every 3-4 days. If you want next time i clean the cage ill take a top down shot so you can see the layout of the UTH's. I mounted the thermostat sensors directly to the UTH's out side of the enclosure. I just used scotch tape and the tank actually sits just low enough to keep them in place should the tape fail.
The green and blue lights are actually for aquariums, but they work nicely and look really cool. I might add one more white or red one, havent really decided. I never was wild about the green lol.
My snake is kinda weird hes a plant hider, very rarely will he use hides, he just sits behind the plants and pokes his nose out to watch me while i am on the computer. He does use the hides to get his sheds off tho.
I am using 2 probe style thermometers one for each side poking up through the repticarpet. and a flukers temp / humidity gauge to monitor ambient temps and humidity. Definatly not the cheepest setup in the world but its really working great, specially since i got the second thermostat.
Any more questions I would be happy to answer or more pics of specific things.
Happy herping!
Don't worry you'll get those temps worked out!
