240 grams
We're at 240 grams as of last night! She is still full of her last mouse, but I can't believe how big my little Niobi is getting. She was 114 grams when I got her in November. Does this seem like normal growth? She has been getting 1 large mouse a week for about 7 weeks now- medium ones before that.
Should I be switching to a rats soon? What size is a good transition from mice?
Thanks!

Now you know that 240 is not her correct weight since she is still full right? I fed my babies rat pinks then rat fuzzies from day one, that is when i produce them.I prefere starting them on rats from day one because i feel they grow at a better rate and have that slender look.A rat fuzzie is close to a large mouse, look at them as some people have differant size comparisings(spelling).

Very true, I would have said that my rat pups are more comparable to adult mice. But it does vary from seller to seller, so go by weight if you're unsure.
Here's a good site with pics and weight comparisons, as an example.

Re: 240 grams
Thank you for the link showing the differences. I need to find a good local source. I have been getting frozen mice at Petco- they are more expensive (4 for $10!!) than the live mice ($2) I used to get her at the herp store.

Re: 240 grams
yeah Darth weighed like 220g a few days after he ate then he pooped and his weight dropped down to 200g. I couldn't/wouldn't want to imagine if I had a poop 1/10th my size.

I've gone thru that too...Petco is such a rip off.
try finding a local herp society. i can almost promise you'll find someone who breeds feeder mice and rats. It is a hefty chunk of change, but you can also order frozen online. you'll never have those extra trips to go buy food for the week.

Re: 240 grams
Just want to jump in here, although sounds like cost may be a factor as well - but you don't have to switch to rats if you're more comfortable with mice. You could offer two mice each week. I've got three girls in my collection now, all over 1000 grams who have been growing very well on 2 adult mice a week. I am starting to try to convert my crew to rats, simply because I'm breeding rats rather than mice, not because I believe rats to be better for them than mice. Rats just smell a lot less and are more fun to breed and interact with, IMHO.

Re: 240 grams
cost isn't really a factor, I just think Petco is making a nice profit. But they are close to my house, so it is convenient. Do you feed both mice at the same time? Maybe I'll start by giving her one large mouse and one small.

Re: 240 grams
I feed both at the same feeding. So when the first one is consumed and they re-align their jaw, I offer the second.
