    uth & flexwatt

    are they basically the same thing?

    if not, what's the difference?

    They essentially are the same thing. They are both "under tank heaters" or things like that. You can buy one already set up and fabricated from a company like zoo-med, from a pet store or set up and wire your own using flexwatt. Flexwatt you have to wire yourself, but its very cheap, easy to wire, and gives you alot of options when it comes to heating.

    Even if you're not wire-savvy, you can order flexwatt from places like www.reptilebasics.com, and they'll wire it for you before they ship (if you specify you want them to do that when you order) I'm not good at stuff like that, so I'm glad I had that option!

    Under the tank heater is just a generic term to describe the location of the heat source. You can get an under tank heater made by different companies such as flexwatt, Zoo-med, Exo-Terra, Cobra etc. etc. They differ a bit in how they look, but all are a flat heat source, and they also need to be regulated by a thermostat. (or at least a dimmer)

    And I'm with Kim, I need my flexwatt prewired for me.
