Is This Normal?
I picked up Auryn last night from NERD and I put him into his new home to settle in. As per Kara's advice--I turned his warm side hide into a humid hide with sphagnum moss.
Last night, Auryn was crawling all over the place, checking things out--and that's completely understandable, so I didn't worry.
This morning, I woke up, hoping he would have discovered his hides and that they're good to hide in, but instead he's wedged between his water bowl and just behind the Accurite. I'm using KRAFT paper as substrate--and the ends are a bit long, so they curl over a little. It makes the place he is -almost- like a hide...

He's just hunkered back there--no way to tell if he's sleeping. I'm a first-time BP mom, so I'm going to be paranoid about every little thing until I think he's a-okay.
In case you needed to know: Temps are 81 cool/ 91 warm, Humidity's up at 64%, which is a little high, but I need to wait for a week to bug Auryn again, and I -don't- want to solder more holes in his tub while he's in it!
Is what he's doing normal for a BP who's having his first night/morning in a new place?

Cute!! He will find his hides, it is only his first day/ morning and night with you, so he will be fine. My ball exsplored for the first day she was here, then she went on into her hides.

Yea they will find thier own spot to feel safe in sometimes.Think about them being a kid doing things how they want not how the parents(Mom AKA you lol) prefere things being done.

The humidity is fine for now. Not too high to worry about. And he'll find his hides eventually. It can take a couple days sometimes.

Sounds just like a normal thing for any snake to be doing. He'll sort it out in time. I know Mikey's new snake Buddy took a few days to decide he liked the hides we have here and settle in but now he's busy peeking out of the entrance hole just like the rest of the 06's. Sometimes they just laze about near their hides too. Lots of ours do that but will also use the hide when they feel like it. As long as his temps are fine, he'll do what works for him.

Re: Is This Normal?
Well, yesterday and today/tonight, Auryn's been doing more of the same. He was asleep in the same corner, wedged between the waterbowl and the wall of the tub this morning. He spent this evening pushing his tubs around and climbing on everything.
He seems to be testing boundaries--touching his nose to the plastic walls and the top of the tub, flicking his tongue. He still hasn't actually settled into any hides yet.
I have caught him "watching" me a few times. His enclosure's right behind my computer and next to my bed, and while I was sitting on my bed today at different times or I turned from my PC to look in on him, he's watching me. At least, I think he is. I guess I'm just a big heat signature he's not too sure about yet.
Just thought I'd update

Re: Is This Normal?
Everything sounds really normal.
When I first got Fluffy last year I covered the sides of the tub (on the outside) with paper so that he couldn't look out. Then I left a little portion without paper so that I could look in and check him out. The first week is the hardest for the owner and combatting your urge to take him out of the tub, make friends and take a million pics of him. Be strong!
and ... Congratulations!
