I checked it out in Daytona last year and thought that it was an awesome idea for someone breeding for the first time or on a small scale!

Does that mean it gets the 8ball sign of approval? I may try it out, I may only have 2 clutches this year and it is my first.

My local Petsmart carries it, I was looking into it, but I still have a ton of perilite/vermiculite mixed up. I also overheard a few gecko breeders discussing it at Tinley last year...said it worked like a charm for their gecko eggs and small BP clutches.

LOL ... I couldn't say that, I've never used the product myself ... I don't believe in advocating something that I don't have first hand practical experience with ... that would be like lying to me and not my style.

I do know a lot of the people involved in the development of the product and they are some of the super stars of the snake world ... I wouldn't be afraid to try it at least.

Is there something special in this product other than premixed vermiculite and water?

I think I'm going to try it this year. Im not sure that I'm confident in getting the mixture right, or maybe I'll just get someone to make up some boxes for me LOL

I'm probably just making a mountain out of a molehill though LOL

Lawrence, as far as I know, it just takes the guesswork out of getting the mixture right, for those who havent done it before, or those who know what theyre doing, but see this as an easier alternative....

Ah... that's why I went with the other idiot-proof method: no sub.

    Re: hatch rite?

I have been thinking that I will try this when I get eggs. If it works...it *seems* like it might take some of the guess work out with mixing. I saw a short video clip where Alex Hue had two deli's one with hatch rite and one with with vermiculite/perlite, anyway he poured a small amount of water in each. Then tipped the deli's: the verm/perl showed the water running out whereas the hatch rite retained and absorbed the water and there was none that ran out of the cup.
