Re: kinks
I'd ask the breeder to give you a flawless one or a discount if that is acceptable to you. It's not right for the seller not to inform you of things like that.

If you've already purchased him, isn't a bit late to be asking? I would be concerned about it being a possible genetic trait or even impairing his ability to breed later on. Without seeing the animal, I don't think anyone could adequately say one way or the other.

Re: kinks
Spinal kinking can be genetic and would be best to stay away from a snake like that, unless you want a pet and would never breed it!

Yeah, I came across a HUGE normal female about the same size as the one I have now, but it had a kink on it's backbone somewhere in the latter 3rd of it's body. The seller wanted $150. and it sounded great pricewise but... I wanted to breed her and I wasn't trying to take the gamble on that one.
He stated he wasn't sure if it would breed or not...or whether it was something that would be genetic but I personally just don't want anything Kink'd in my collection genetic or not...

Re: kinks
So, you paid for the snake, and then the seller informs you that the snake is kinked?
YIKES.
I'd get my money back and run far far away.

I believe he purchased it knowing that the kink was there in order to get the low price, and now he's wondering whether or not it could affect its breeding potential.
I believe kinks can occur three different ways: Genetic, prenatal defect, or injury. I'm not sure there is any way to determine how it was caused unless it was due to an obvious injury. There's no way of determining how it might affect the breeding potential other than trying to breed him, although it's not very ethical to breed him if it is a genetic defect. It might help if the breeder could admit to injuring the snake, perhaps if he was too rough when trying to pop it, but I doubt if he would admit to such a thing.
In any case, it sounds like a gamble which is probably why it was such a deal. You should ask yourself if it's worth it if the snake is unable to breed or if you're prepared to deal with a clutch of abnormal snakes.
