rainbow boas here or wrong forum?

ok I am seriously wanting a brazillian rainbow boa, and am doing the research, and reading and such (I have 2 BP's already) and I was wondering if anyone has one who might be able to tell me if they are as testy as some people say they are?

I know not all animals are alike, but I just want a consensus on what folks who own them say and not necessarily answers from a book.

    thanks

I moved it to 'General Boas' for you.

Brazilian rainbow boas are great. They can be nippy when young but generally calm down with handling. My two were both a little bitty when I got them....but now the combination of me handling them and understanding more about how they react to me....there are no problems.

IMO....BRBs are a great 'step up' animal from a ball python if you are long for a little more advanced care. Just remember that it is important to have their husbandry correct, so make sure you have an enclosure setup properly before purchasing the animal.

I have a trio that I LOVE! The two males I raised from "pencils"... And the female I acquired as an adult. *knock on wood* I've never been tagged by one, but one of the males did strike at my friend a few months ago during a "photo shoot"....

I do approach them differently, if that makes sense... I could pick up my BP's with my eyes closed if I needed to... But I always reach in and give my BRB's a "Hey it's me not a rat" bump before I grab it to take it out. Best of luck with your decision!

oh its BEAUTIFUL! I've been doing a lot of reading and such to get ready for it. I desparately want a male and female set, but so far my SO is very reluctant to give me permission. we fought about it tonight, and probably have at least a few more fights to come before there is a final decision. I'm begging though cause I fell in love with the ones I held in the pet store. sooo soft and sooo beautiful!

you're lucky to have a nice one...it really is pretty
