new additions
i was worried about my snake so i saved my money and updated his cage a bit. (i still need a thermometer for temparature)
But i got him two 150 watt nocturnal heat bulbs for each side of his tank, 2 new hiding boxes for each side of his tank, and an electic heater i keep towards to hott side for extra heat.
As far as humidity should i spray his tank down with warm water? And how often do you change your turf/newspaper (whatever lies on the bottom)
One more question my snake often spends time ON TOP of his hide box, is that normal?

Re: new additions
Your number one priority should be getting the temperture correct. 90-92 warm side/80-82 cool side. Without the correct tempertures, you could be freezing or cooking your snake to death.

You needed that thermometer before you even got a snake. That was very irresponsible since the life of the animal is completely dependant upon the tempertures that it is kept at.
Let it be a lesson.....In the best interest of an animal, do not purchase it without having the proper setup.

Re: new additions
I wouldn't be so hard on him... the mass public is fed all kinds of weird outdated info on keeping all different types of animals. Heck I worked at a store where they had so many different animals I thought they definately knew how to take good care of them, but here I am now learning tons of new stuff that I never would have known to do from what I was taught in the past.
Borat, I would make a thermometer and hygrometer the next thing for you to buy. Get an Accurite from Wal-Mart for about $15.00 and find out what kind of environment you are providing for your snake before trying to change anything else.

Just because you are a minor means nothing. I was a minor when i got my snake but I had money. I am not being a jerk but if you will consistently lack funds for your snake then get a job or give it to someone who will have money for it. It is not fair for the snake that you do not have money, and it's not your fault either. Do what is best for the snake.

Re: new additions
Hi,
Yeah I know it can be tricky getting ll this stuff in a hurry but the temps are the important thing (as you might have noticed ) and everyone wants to help keep your snake healthy.
Make sure your snake can't actually touch the heat bulbs or any metal that is directly in contact with them ( dont know how your lid is set up ) in case he gets burnt.
On the plus side the thermometers everyone recomends are quite cheap I think so hopefully wont put you to too much trouble. Get everyone you know involved as well and make it a family project or group pet . Then hit em for donations
