    What NOT to do...

Hello everyone! I dug up a picture from 1987 of my ball python and thought I'd share. As you can see, he was kept in glass, on corn-cob bedding, thermometer, w/ a heat rock. Also no hide...woops!

Well back in the day, this was how I was taught to keep him. He actually did well for a wild caught snake. He ate religously, every monday, one live mouse.

As I do recall, he. she, it was an excellent escape artist. Always getting loose. I unfortunatly had to find him a new home because I was about to have my baby. I didn't want a python in the same house as my newborn, especially when he was an escape artist.

What harm could an escaped BP do to a baby?

Thanks for sharing! Interesting to see older photo's of ball pythons in captivity...

Seem's like he wasn't donig too bad. Atleast looks healthy...shows how much we've learned about caring for these beautiful snakes. I've got some old pictures of my ball pythons from when I was in high school... Their polaroids so i'll have to scan them...

Ah, Cassette tapes.... is it really bad to still have your old collection packed away in your parents basement? '87 isn't all that long ago!

    Re: What NOT to do...

In 1986 I had a friend that let his 4 foot RTB(named Zeppelin) just cruise around the house and only put him in a cage to eat! I lived with him for a while and never thought twice about it. The poor guy used to hang out on a hanging domed light fixture over the kitchen table to keep warm. At the time I never owned anything other than a water or garter snake so I figured he knew what he was doing. Zeppelin was a very friendly snake thankfully!
