    Zim got sexed...

Well I took Zim to the store today to get him sexed and to get him some dinner. The guy at the store probed him and said Zim was female. He said that if the probe goes any further than 4 scales, its male. Any fewer and its female. Zim went 4 scales, and he said that if a snake goes to 4 scales, he normally sexes them as female.

Not knocking the guy,but does he really know how to properly probe? Sometimes people will "ACT" like they know what they are doing and just "guess" at the sex.It is possible to have the snake tighting that area, probe is to big or some just dont get the probe in the correct area. All of these examples can give a false reading. Is it possible to have a second opinion or someone that knows how to pop them? I would hate for you to accept that your corn is a female and then down the line you find out he was REALLY a he  .If you never plan on breeding then the sex really does not matter . Like i said not trying to be rude just looking out for ya

    Re: Zim got sexed...

Well I'm not sure if the reptile vet knows how. I once asked her if she could sex my bearded dragon (RIP) and I got the impression that she didn't remember how. I don't know any other snake keepers in Richmond, so this store (Noah's Pets) is the only one I know of that can sex the snake for me.
