grapewood log
I just bought a grapewood log for him and was wondering if that kind of wood is ok for the BP? i think cedar isnt the right kind of wood for them so i got this. let me know and thanks

I believe I bought the same kind of log for my 55gal from the Tampa reptile show... Looks great in the enclosure...I draped some artificial vines over it and it looks really good! I'm big on creating natural looking habitats for my balls...It's not needed but I love the way it looks...
Cedar is no good though...never use it

You are correct. Cedar is the wood to avoid at all costs.
The grapewood would be ok, on the basis of wood type. I just don't like those half log hides. Ball pythons really do better with a dark hide, that isn't so open. I got suckered into two of them myself, when I first started, but I no longer use them for my bps. They are very difficult to disinfect as well.

yeah, I actually got a log (what I was talking about) darn near half a tree lol....I was never big on the half logs for hides on the topic of hideboxes.

There are toxins in the wood that can cause respiratory problems in animals. Here's a link that may help.
