    Question really strange

I bought Darwin (a 2 year old python) about 6 months ago, not a week later he had eaten his first meal. After a couple of months of a regular diet ( a gerbil a week) he started shedding. Since I knew it was a good sign I was really happy. But after the shedding he began his first fast. I knew it is normal for ball pythons to do this so I didn't worry, but after a couple months I was really frustrated. Since then he only ate once (about a month ago) but the really strange thing is that he is shedding again. I'm puzzled because I never expected him to have enough energy to do this. Is it something normal? Why would this happen, doesn't shedding require a lot of energy?

Thanx for taking your time reading this, if you can venture an answer I would really like to know your opinions

Shedding don't really require alot of energy. I is normaly a sign of growth among other things.

Double and triple check your temps. It's likely that there is some change that is triggering the fasting. It's even possible that the change in the light cycle may be having an impact.

I wouldn't worry about the shedding too much, but if you haven't already considered it I'd recommend a trip to the vet to have him checked for internal parasites. (just as a precaution) Plus then you know a good vet in case of emergencies.
