My new corn and my old corn

Hi,

Just thought Id introduce my corns to the public



The red one is Medusa (which is going to shed soon..) and the one in the back is Cornelia, 4 weeks old. She had her first pinkie with us yesterday. She is super quick and that poor pinkie went down in record time! She is a very cute little corn indeed

Just wanted to add that Medusa is about 6 months old. She managed to escape once and I was in complete panic. Found her in a desk drawer 2 hours later... hidden underneath a bunch of papers. Never been so relieved in my life!

Are they housed together in the same tank or just together for picture purposes?

Really? The breeder who sold me her said it was ok as long as the snakes are born in the same year.

I wounldn't reccommend it. If one of them were to get sick, the other would get sick, too. They could also potentially injure each other.

Well it is not true snakes in general are solitary animals and cannibalism among snakes exist regardless of species and or size



Whether they are the same size or not it can happen and even if people will tell you they have keep their corn or any other type of snakes together without a problem it does not mean it should be done because either snake is at risk for injuries and or death



Believe me 1 Corn Snake = 1 Enclosure so 2 Corn Snakes = 2 Enclosures

Also, cornsnakes as well as most colubrids, are ophiophagus, meaning they eat other snakes. One day you may find your little one gone... and she hadn't escaped the tank.

I'd recommend putting the smaller corn in a 6qt tub until she's eating regularly and has put on some size.

Snakes kept together are generally very stressed, are competing for optimum places to hide, temperatures, food, are are trying to dominate each other if you see them curled up together.

2 snakes, 2 enclosures, unless you want one less snake.

As for the picture of the snakes, they look awesome. I especially like the red.

Also, may I ask what breeder it was that said this?
