Two BP's
I have two BP's that are probably three and a half yrs old, male and female-(a brother and sister), one is about 40" or so and the other 47" (give or take). They have never eaten anything but frozen mice/rats. They are not for sale. I will give them to the person that I feel I can trust to care for them. If you think you might be interested you may email me at star_bird_love@yahoo.com. You must be able to provide me with your veterinarians' name, phone number and permission to speak with him/her.
Happy Holidays!

Re: Two BP's
Just an aside; but why would a veterinary number/name matter, really? I am sure that there are keepers out here who have snakes (myself included) that had never needed vet care; just wondering. Especially if someone buys from quality breeders only; they could feasably keep snakes for 10 years and never need vet care; while a newbie could have a snake a week, take it to the vet, and be able to produce a vet number/name, and could have lied to the vet..
That aside, it is good that you;re trying to find a quality home, not just sell them and care about just money, or dump them on a pet store.

Well, I know who Epona142 is. She is a great person and I think she would make a great new mom for those two slinkies.. I'd personally vouch for her.
I can understand the reason behind asking for a vet number, but the truth is most vets will not release info about clients even if the clients ok it. If a vet says "John Doe shouldn't have snakes, don't give it to him", the vet could be sued.

My vets (2 in one office) barely have time to talk to me when i take our dogs in for there shots lol.In my 9yrs i have had only 2 snakes ever needing to go to our vet.I think i would be more concerned about the adopters experiances with reptiles and how many years he/she has been keeping reptiles.

Re: Two BP's
I agree, that is generally the case.
I am lucky to have a very personal vet. He is a fellow member of the herp society I am active with and he also does all of the vet work for the reptile rescue I founded a year ago. Great guy.. and he even offers free vet advice on Alex Hues forums under the "Ask the vet" forum. He is one of those herp vets that actually like what he does.. he has the 'passion' that most of us do!

Re: Two BP's
Well you all make really good points and I appreciate any thoughts you have that will help these two find a good home. My methods may be a bit quirky however, at the end of the day, I just want to know in my heart that they have a good home. If I can't do that, I will never be at peace. Thanks again.

Southwestern Pennsylvania almost into Maryland. I presently have an excellent candidate that I am working with and confident I have found a home for these two. If she should change her mind I will post again. Thanks to all of you who replied....it was helpful. Your dedication, passion and willingness to share what you have learned is commendable and heartwarming. Happy Holidays and a very Happy New Year to an extraordinary group.

Re: Two BP's
When I am rehoming cats and dogs, a vet reference is absolutely required of any adopter who has owned an animal in the last five years. It may not be directly indicative of the care these snakes would receive, but it could certainly shed some light on the sort of care the adopter gives their other animals. If I call on a reference and the person answering the phone immediately (without having to look up any information) says "Oh! Mrs Smith! She comes in all the time with Fluffy and Bubba and takes great care of them", that's going to be a lot more positive than if they say "Hmm...let me find the file. Ah yes, we haven't seen their pets in a couple of years, and they only come in for the rabies shot".
Same thing at the vet I work for; I'm always happy if I can give a positive reference for a client when a rescue group calls. Vet references are a standard part of any responsible rescue screening.
Sorry to hijack the thread, and glad to hear that the snakies sound like they've found a good match. :-)
