Snake Escape Prevention
So I can home to find the tank immaculate. The screen was on fine. Nothing was askew, save for a missing snake. 45 minutes of searching later, I found Houdini in the linen closet, 20ft away. Since I didn't see anything wrong with the screen top, I don't know what to fix. My snake is in a 30gallon critter cage with an insulated top. I usually have my door shut anyway, but is there anything extra I can do to protect the snake from trying it again? I have an aquarium tube going into the tank to bubble the water for humidity. I added that Thursday, so I am thinking she escaped through the TINY space the tube occupies going into the tank. Anyway, yeah, I am just a little freaked out. I did minor palpitation and nothing seemed broken or crushed and she seemed fine (and a bit smug, I might add). Anyway, just really worried and wanting to prevent this. I'll take any advice you guys can give me.

Re: Snake Escape Prevention
They sell clips to hold the screen lid in place, I use them for Ma-tsu's tank and they work like a charm, locked down tight. If you don't have some, I recommend one for each corner. That, and/or put something relatively heavy on top.

Somehow I think that the handcuffs would slip off.

The critter cage comes with two "locks" and a place to put a literal lock on the front. I have a chopstick in there now.
What size heavy object do I need for a 180gram snake?? I don't think she moved it, because the top was in place. Unless she pushed it back, which is extremely polite but unlikely. I am guessing she squeezed out somehow.

Re: Snake Escape Prevention
I would say something around the lines of 5 lbs? That will keep most sized snakes in the tank...
I agree that the tank edge clips should be purchased, just as a confirmation as well as the locks that you already have. That way you shouldn't need a weight.
