    Feces question

I am new to this site but it seems to be one of the better ones from what I have seen so far.
My question is this: for a juevenile BP, approx how much will they defecate per movement? I know alot of this will depend on amount of prey consumed and frequency of feeding, but I am looking for a general description (size of feces, how often will they defecate, etc.)
    Any input would be appreciated.

    Re: Feces question

Size is normally smaller than whatever the prey item is. frequency (at least for mine) is proportionate to how often they eat, so mine go just about once per week. Hope that helps.

Hey Kojak!!! Glad you made it here!

As to your question - some of mine go weekly, some monthly - it's really independent of the snake. Do you keep records on your snake? That will help you track what's "normal" for your guy!

Be sure to post pictures for everyone on the pictures thread - especially the sweet one with your little girl!

    Re: Feces question

as robin said , frequency is going to be different for each critter .

just as a guesstimate , i'd say that you should get about 40 to 50% return of what ever your snake eats .

    Re: Feces question

Good to see you here Kojak. For our collection it seems to be very variable. The younger snakes (our 06's) do seem to poop more frequently than the big juvies or adults do though. Some snakes also seem to go more often, others save it up and present a huge prezzie for me. Usually you can see a significant bulge just up from the vent and you know a stinker's about to happen (good time to NOT handle your snake lol).

LOL, thanks to all. And a big howdy to Robin and Franky! I was trying to get a general consensus, because on my visit to the vet, he seemed a little concerned. But all is well I believe, since as I was cleaning out Ramses cage on Tue, I found a gift with plenty of urates as well hidden under his warm side hide!
I've gone to 2 medium sized mice once a week now, so hopefully this will get him more regular and put him at a nice healthy weight.
Thanks again to my two lady friends, and to everyone on here for all the input.

Why was the vet concerned? Majority of the babies and juvy ones i have had put out less poo as they are absorbing the majority of the prey item since they are growing.Majority of the time all i clean up is the white poo lol.Now if you feed them every other day(i do not do this) of course they will put out more poo.

    Re: Feces question

Ways to make your snake poop:

    1) Ship it to Cassandra. Ask her to sit with your snake in her lap. Snakes like to us Cass as a ladies/gents room.

    2) Ask Adam Wysocki why your snake isn't pooping. He will respond "don't worry it will poop when it poops". The snake will then immediately poop. This is some sort of cosmic thing.

    3) Weigh your snake. Excitedly write down the nice weight gain. Make a growth chart even. The snake will drop a huge load and mess up your stats.

    4) Post at BPNet about how worried you are your snake won't poop. By the time you get even one response the snake will have of course dropped a big stinky one. It will be in it's warm side hide smirking at the dumb human.

    5) Invite a non-snake loving friend or relative over. Spend ages explaining how wonderful snakes are. Hand the snake to the person. The snake will now defecate down your mother-in-laws shirt front. Plug your ears....she's about to SCREAM! Mop up the MIL, return snake to the enclosure. Watch snake return to the warm side hide for some more happy smirking snakey time.

Sure Fire Way to Make Sure Your Snake Does NOT Poop:

    1) Book a vet appointment. Promise to bring in a fecal sample.

Not sure if it's "The Poop Master" or "Snake Poop Whisperer" or even the ever popular "Mystic Feces Warrior God" but all I know is the man knows his snake doo doo!
