    Near escape!

I came home after being away from the weekend, checked the levels of my tanks and sat down to check my e-mail. As I'm sitting here, I look over and my BP starts to go on the prowl as he usually does around this time since I usually feed him on wednesdays.

He goes to the top and checks out his lid, then goes up, up, further up and now I see his head come down the OUTSIDE of his tank. I stared at him a little bit more to see if he would be able to get himself all the way out and fortunately, he was a bit too fat to get all the way out, or so he's led me to believe. It's glass tank with a top that slides in and a lock, so once he reaches his midsection the top doesn't move anymore, but I'm sure if we wiggles enough he'll be able to get out next time.

My sister likes to take my snakes out when I'm gone, she's usually really good about closing everything back but I'll have to have a long talk with her tomorrow. Now I'm all sorts of paranoid and I'll be checking the tank 15 times a day.

Just wanted to share with you guys after my mini heart attack

    Hahaha, fatty got stuck

You should probably look into securing the lid more though. Was he only able to get that far because the screen wasn't locked?

He was actually only able to get that far because it was locked. When I adopted him, he came with a tank, a cracked tank but a 40 gallon tank nonetheless. I decided to keep it despite the crack, but as I examine the top more, the left side doesn't slide ALL the way in. It's the tiniest space, he's been working on it diligently since he got part of the way out but hasn't been able to get more than his tongue out since.

I'll probably end up getting a new tank as his christmas present after that scare.
