incubating in rack tub..?
Is this possible? I was thinking of turning one of the tubs in our rack into an incubator for this year. My plan would be to use UTHs (flexwatt) to provide steady and even warmth, if needed above and below the eggs. My ideas were either to keep the eggs in sealed rubbermaids inside each tub in vermiculite, or fill the tub with an inch or two of the vermiculite and put them right in there. Should I just scrap this idea and go w/ the hovabator, or is this worth thinkig about? The room temps in our house are never below 75 degrees in the snake room.

i don't see how that wouldn't work, i wouldnt spend money on buying an incubator.
just make sure the temps are 89 inside the tub, and mix the vermiculite with the water, just enough so that it clumps. and i don't think you need holes in the tubs, checkin on the eggs every few days is enough

I would think you would lose your temp needed to hatch the eggs thru the plastic of the tub.Or you would have to use flexwatt at the top and under the tub.If its the later choice i would just get a hovabator lol.My reason is simple to much work and stress to keep the eggs properly heated in order to hatch, plus i am lazy lol

Re: incubating in rack tub..?
I know an "old school" breeder that has done that before with success. I my self would give it a shot if I needed to...

Re: incubating in rack tub..?
I hatched a complete clutch with the mother inside the tub, but that was maternal incubation.

All thats important is constant temps and humidity. doesnt matter where you do it.
