    Two balls better than one?

I'm wondering if it is best to get two bp's or does it matter at all? I know some animals like to have the company of their own species. Does anyone here have an opinion on this? Wouldn't want a lonely bp

Definitely not. Ball pythons are not social and it is stressful for them to live together. There is also the risk or disease and parasite transmission.. and even cannibalism.

Also its not uncommon for a BP that is housed with another to have a dominance fight and one BP will grow, and another will not. We had a member a few days ago who did that and he said they were housed together for a few years and the one BP was only 18 inches long.

I am a former Hoosier. The Midwest show isn't too shabby. If he's there I recommend Brian Kollwitz of Exotic Ball Pythons. Great snakes and a great guy.

One per enclosure yes, but two is better than one and 4 is better than 2, lol. Dang snakes are addictive, you can never have enough. (Kara I am soooooo jealous of you. I am going to plan a vacation at somepoint around visiting NERD).

I have to agree that many of them is better than one, but start out slow...

I started with one, and now I am at a very large quantity..

Be careful not to get carried away, and make sure that you can care for your snake to the BEST of your ability.

Re: Two balls better than one?

Very very true. On my buget, I can't get much more than I currently have. I have two that I am paying on and will have paid of when they are available come spring along with a 3rd that I am planning on. Right now a rack system needs to come before anything else. I have one that I will be getting here in another week, but it only holds 12 and it is only going to hold my '06s for a few months. I would like to breed, but that will be a few years down the line after alot more research.
I started with one 5 years ago, the others have come in the last 2 years. I am limiting myself just because I don't want to have so many that I can't pay attention to them all, keep up on cleaning or any other problems that may arise. My snakes are just as much my family as my other "furkids". It's why I live in the house I do, could find a nicer one I am sure but my landlord is cool about my animals, and I am not going to risk getting one who says they are but aren't.
