Ranco going haywire?
I just started to use my Ranco today, probe on Flexwatt, set to 90 degrees, and I'm checking on my snakes.
Both of their temps are OVER 100 degrees. Should I call Rich at Reptilebasics (that's who I bought from)?

How is the probe secured to the flexwatt? What kind of thermometer are you using to check the temps?

Re: Ranco going haywire?
Accurite is used to check temps. The probe is taped onto the flexwatt with duct tape.
The snake with the probe on it's flexwatt seems to be ok now. The other snake's tub IS lowering, but is still around the century mark

How long did you give the temps to stabilize?

About half a day. They were pretty stable until now.

So it was fine and suddenly the temps shot up and now its stable again? Are you sure the probe is securely taped to the flexwatt? Keep an eye on it...

Yes thats the thing. I think they will be fine after a few more minutes. I'll tell you what happens in a few minutes.
As of now, they are both on a good note. The snake with the probe is right where I want it to be, and the snake without the probe is coming back to normal temps.

Wow, I would be really careful tonight. I personally wouldnt feel safe leaving it on when it suddenly made that drasic of a change. I know you may not have any other options but thats just my thought. Hope you get it figured out.

I do have spare heat pads and a dimmer. I'm going to see how it is in an hour or two.
