    BP acting out

I got my bp about a yr ago and he has never tried to strike or anything. He hissed the first few times we handled him but that was it. Well now for the past 2 weeks he won't eat and everytime we try to handle him he hisses with his mouth open wide and trys to strike everything. Could this just be from the hibernation period or what ever it's called or him getting ready to shed?

    Re: BP acting out

If he is shedding then his belly should be slightly pinker than normal, also his overall coloration should look duller and his eyes will turn a cloudy blue color. After this he will go back to normal for maybe a day(maybe longer) then shed. If he is shedding then bump up the humidity to around 70-75%. Some snakes will not eat in shed and some will. First, look at your husbandry to make sure that isn't the problem. Hot side should be 92-94, cool side 82-84, one hide on each end of the enclosure, so two at the least, and fresh water daily. What are you using to measure your temps?
