Strange Animal In The Front Yard

I went outside at 5:30 am today to drink my coffee and smoke and heard a noise. I look to the left of the house where there is a side walk and bushes. I see the strangest thing. It is obviously and animal. It is about 3 ft long 2 ft tall and very furry. You can not tell what it is because the hair is long all the way to the ground. the bottom part of the fur was white with long dark brown or black fur that almost covered all of the white. This animal moved very strangely. I was totally shocked. I watched it go down the walkway across a dirt path into a neighbors yard before I moved. I realized it was an anteater or aardvark. I think it was an anteater! In the middle of Tucson! We are miles from the Zoo! I am totally stumped here. We alerted all the people around us to be on the lookout and to call animal control if they see it. What do you think? How could this animal end up here running wild?

Perhaps it was a porcupine? They're native to AZ, "shaggy" in appearance & move with a rolling, ambling gait. They can grow quite large, 40" +/- is a big one, so an animal in the 3' range wouldn't be unreasonable.

That'd be my guess. Google porcupine images & see what comes up for comparison. We have them up here too & I absolutely love them...fascinating creatures.

Nope. I went and looked. It def had a distinct color distinction from the top being dark and seeing a few inches of whitish at the bottom.

Let us know what you find out. But then again, my borzoi was mistaken for an anteater by a very strange man about 40. His second guess was a shepard.
