Long Drive + Question about Plastic

Alright, well I am driving home today to suprise my folk's and be home 2 days early. Well my plan was to bring the snake now and leave him at home since I will be going back home within 2 weeks for the winter break. Parents are cool with it and plus, its less stress for the little guy right?. Well i have a small UPS box and a pillowcase, after my last class I will be heading off to the store to buy some those temporary Warmers and place them under the box. But the Drive is about 7 hours. Does the little guy need water or something, and I am guess blasting music is a bad idea.

Here is the other part, i have a 28 qt tank (for now), the holes are poked and the hides are ready. I ordered the Helix, 3inch heat tape, and a temp gun from reptile basics which should be here today. I get to take it home and set up for the little guy. Heres my real question How do i mantain the temperature on the cool side. Them temp in my house (in Tally) is like in the 60's and 70's, poor insulation and we dont want to waste money on electricity for heat. Will i need another regulator and heat tape for the other side? thanks in advance for anything.

Re: Long Drive + Question about Plastic

The snake will be fine without water for the duration of the drive. Just keep him warm and dark and secure.

As for the new tub you're making...you may need a second heat source to keep the "cool" side warm enough. Set it up as you planned and give it a few hours to adjust and settle....then see what the temperature range is. If it's too cold, zip out to a petstore and buy a zoomed (or other brand) UTH and a lamp-dimmer from the hardware store....and that should do ya just fine.

So long as it's warm enough, the snake can stay in its traveling box for a day or so until you get its new home all set up and tested and running smoothly.

EDIT: Oh yeah....blasting the music would probably not be a good idea, but any reasonable volume should be fine.
