I wish all my pets took meds like this

Unut has allergies, and you know if any of my animals needs medication I'd much rather it be him! He's such an angel about it, it's unbelievable. When he got altered, the pain med, the antibiotic and the probiotic he had to take he just gobbled down with no problem. Same story with his antihistamines. Karen and I went ahead and filmed his medicine taking, and I thought I'd share.

A FAR cry from trying to give Cleo meds! Her head spins around and pea soup goes flying out of her mouth. Naughty kitty! Unut's such an angel of a bunny when he's not destroying carpet. He's my monster!

Cool Re: I wish all my pets took meds like this

Thats pretty cool .Has he always been that calm?Have you ever heard of or seen a rabbit that eats lab block rodent chow? Or if you ignore him when you walk into the room and he is hungry(even if he ate 5 minutes ago) he will pickup his dish(even if it has food in it) and throw it? I am sure most will say no to both of my questions.Well i have on both questions,he is OUR rabbit lol.Thumper bunny is a trip and he knows it.We got him from a freind(he fed him the rat chow) who did not have enough time for him anymore.I will get some pics of him and post them.Of course i will not hi-jack your thread.

Unut is incredibly calm, cept for his random fits of hyper where he runs circles around the room, lol. He cuddles with me all the time too. However, our other male rabbit Bowie used to throw bowls around before we got one too heavy for him! He loves tossing things. The baby keys in the vid, a couple small plushies, and pages from the phone book are some of his favorite toys to toss.

Thumper sounds like a cutie! One of the things I adore about house rabbits is they have SO much personality. Every one is a unique individual, which I never expected out of rabbits till we had one. Then two... then three.

I don't have lab block around though, so... nope! lol, here's what my buns do eat though! Or at least are now since I found this site! http://www.oxbowhay.com/link.sp?page=products Good stuff! My buns LOVE the hay cakes, and I always stick it in front of them when they start chewing something they shouldn't, lol.

Ok now i have heard of two rabbits that throw bowls lol.I think thumper would look at me funny if we ever gave him real rabbit foods and such .We are slowly introducing him with our two dogs,of course he is in his cage.My freind said he is not scared of cats nor dogs so when it comes to him being out of his cage this should be interesting.

Re: I wish all my pets took meds like this

Here's a link that may help you out with the dog/bunny introductions! Actually I recommend rabbit.org for just about any bun related information, it's been a life saver for me!

    http://www.rabbit.org/journal/1/dogs.html

Check out the section on diet too, no idea how pellets compare with the rodent blocks, but I do know an unlimited supply of timothy hay is a must to ensure a long life with no hairballs or dangerous blockages. Bunny impaction is bad. I've also learned the hard way that green lettuce = good treat and iceburg lettuce = loose nasty stools and gas. That was not fun. So yeah, very helpful tips on that site to avoid nasty surprises like that!

They're a blast to have roaming around the home. Death by cute. We'd like to get a Holland Lop eventually too, but I think 4 buns is my limit for litter box duty, lol!

Aww, such a good bun-face. Even if he may be an ebil carpet chewing monster.

I have 4 Guinea Pigs and they're about the same with the timothy hay. They get fresh greens and veggies constantly. They LOVE cilantro and parsley, endive, raddiccio(sp?), a bit of red cabbage every so often, oranges(they leave peels...), green leaf and red leaf lettuce, squash, etc. They have fun getting to the bottom where I hide goodies and other treats. So funny One boy is named Henry, the other boy is named Peter Tuffington, and the 2 girls don't have names yet(just got them). I need me a rosebud gpig now... Floooffy!

I do have 2 bunnies, but they're not very sociable, especially the boy.

Thanks for the link .I will say one thing for the rodent lab blocks Thumper is eating, his poo does not smell like a rabbit who is eating real rabbit foods. When i was younger my Grandfather and myself raised rabbits for the dinner table.Even after these numerous years i can still remember there smell .Yea i realize numerous rabbits tend to smell more then just one lol.

Re: I wish all my pets took meds like this

Hee, I love Guinea Pigs! They make the cutest noises. I call the long haired ones tribbles. If I ever had one... would so name em Tribble.

Rabbits are a lot like people, every one has his own quirks and personality. My girl Daphne runs away from getting pet unless you pet her with your foot, if Bowie even suspects you have a treat for him, he will run after you and zoom around your feet! And Unut, welll... he's my ebil angel. Some rabbits are more social than others. Our girl is the shy/grumpy one who prefers her boys to people, and the boys just love to love. They're real high maintenance, demand a lot of attention and patience, but man... they are the mammals for me and Karen. Quiet, playful, sweet and cuddly. Unut's my monster, Cleo is SO jealous. My favorite is when they lean into getting pet and when Unut lays next to my face and bruxes quietly, kind of a super soft bunny purr when I pet him. He's the only one who does that.

Ours aren't stinky at all so long as I keep up with that litter box! Which was easy till we got the boys. Poop machines! But the more hay they eat the less stinky, I've found. And healthier stools. I'm glad the snakes are so low maintenance, because this balance works out perfect for us.

Oh iceburg lettuce just sucks for most critters including humans (rats get the runs from it too). Mostly water really and little else. I don't know if you already do this Sheree but back when we had pet rabbits I used to have a nice deal going with my local friendly green grocer. As long as I arrived at a certain day and time I could have a literal ton of lovely free veggie cullings for the buns. I did have to pick and choose a bit to get the best but most of it was actually quite good. Just things like misshappen carrots, etc. but a lovely free supply of extra munchies for the bunnies.
