Should I just wait on him?

I am pretty disappointed; my pastel male is showing no interest at all in breeding either female I have tried him with in the past 2 weeks. He is under 500g.. should I just throw in the towel and breed my girls to my normal male? He locked right up, with the loaner female, within hours of putting him into her tub.. he would breed my other girls in a heartbeat.
Would you wait, grow the little guy up more and try again in a few months? Or just breed the normie man to the females and get a bunch more normals.. I really want some pastel hatchlings.. but I don't want to waste the season as I have two girls who are ripe for breeding right now.

This is just the start of the breeding season ... there are MANY months to go ... that's like a race car driving giving up because he's not in 1st place after one lap ... keep going.

    That is true.
I am not sure if he doesn't "want" to breed, or if he is just not old enough.. so do you think if I grow him up for a few more months, there is a chance? I guess so.. and if all else fails, I can breed them to my normal male..

What does anyone think of combating males prior to introducing to females to get them interested. I've read about it but never tried it. Does anyone have experience with this. I did hear you don't want a big male and a little guy together or you will scare the  out if him!

Too much potential for bad things to happen and it's really not necessary ... Given enough time, a male will either breed or he won't ... you won't get anywhere by trying to "force it".
