    Thermostat Probe Help

    Hey All,

Well tonight it happened...while pushing in one of the rack tubs the probe cable to my Herpstat got severed. I tried to splice it back but it still shows up as an error. So I guess the probe is now shot. Since I put the probe inside the tub over the Hot end I suppose this is going to happen alot given all the activity around it. I also noticed how thin the wire is, which lends itself to damage.

So after all this long winded describing I am wondering if anyone knows of a replacement probe that could be purchased at a "local" type store? (ie. Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart etc.)

I have ordered another from Spyder but it won't be here till mid week and that is a long time without it. (I have a Runco I will wire in tomorrow as a back-up )

    Thanks for any suggestions.

No suggestions but someone I know runs a Herpstat and oddly enough likes the replacement probes better so maybe there's a silver lining on your cloud.

Is the probe white or grey? If the Herpstat is a slightly older model, then it got shipped out with those flimsy white probes(or probe).

Dion told me that they now ship all Herpstats out with the heavier-duty probe(thank god...)

Hopefully so, maybe Spyder got the message from others too that their probes leave something to be desired.

Anyone else have some other options?

The probe itself is a silver color the wire is off white...I would guess somewhere around 26 ga wire (very thin). It is always nice to know companies respond to product issues and work on improving them...I will let you know once mine arrives.
