Help?!
Today I went to pair up Jack and Anita because my dad forgot to before he left town for Nebraska. I picked Jack up out of his cage and noticed a bubble on each side of his mouth. As he started moving around they popped but I felt the sides of his mouth and they were all wet. His breathing sounded fine and I checked inside his mouth but everything looked fine. Is this something I should worry about? I kept him in his own cage and away from the other snakes. Could this be something serious or did he just take a big drink of water?

Alyssa, its kinda hard to guess what it really is over the internet. Is there someone close enough to you that knows about snakes that you can call and see if they will come over and look?

Re: Help?!
I would definitely not pair them up until you can confirm that it's not an RI.

Re: Help?!
Not really. The closest person would be Lynn at Boas and Balls, but she's like an hour away and I dont think she would come all the way over just to look at him. Do you think its neccesary to take him to the vet? There are no other signs of anything and he hasnt had any more saliva come out, but I'm still worried. The last time one of our snakes "drooled" was when he was bit in the neck by a rat.

He'll be fine until your Dad gets back ... Nothing happens with ball pythons "quickly" ... If it is an RI and it's just bubbles with no sounds, it's early and you still have plenty of time to have him treated ... if it's not an RI, a few missed pairings this early in the season won't make a difference at all ... Just take a break from pairing him up for the time being and you'll be set.

Well see here is the problem.I have seen ones that will be taking a drink and i disturb them and when i take them out i get a water surprise.Although i have never seen one blow the bubbles out of the nostrils.I agree with Adam until you can confirm whether or not he has URI i would not place him with anyone. Not being rude here, have you ever seen the signs of URI at differant stages?

He actually didn't blow them out of his nostrils, it was coming out of the corners of his mouth. And no I havn't.

Ooops my misread:eek: .Are you able to get ahold of your father? Maybe he has seen this snake do this before.Since he has the actual decision on what you should or shouldnt do it might be a good idea to talk to him.Keep us posted though
