Rats keep them regular
When I was feeding adult mice (20 gr) once a week, my snake never poo'ed except for shed, every six weeks or so. Bumped him up to rats three weeks ago and he's crapped twice. Larger meals, of course (40 gr as opposed to 20 gr). But still.

Re: Rats keep them regular
I don't think there's any evidence that rats keep a snake more regular than mice. It's very likely the sheer volume is what's making the snake need to defecate more. More in...more out.

If you want your snake to be regular, feed him fowl. It works, but my God does it stink!

Re: Rats keep them regular
Mine has been on rats his entire life (he's 4 months) and I just recently upped him to a larger prey item for the past three feeds and he has yet to poo. He used to go every two weeks and Thurs. will be week four with no poo yet! He's holding out on me Lol. I think it has nothing to do with the prey and everything to do with the individual snake.

I think bloods are magic...I've had mine for about 2 months, has eaten every week, and has yet to let out anything more than a pea sized urate!
Balls are some messy snakes...get an Albino and you'll see, I shiver every time I see a pic of their ball crawling all over their face or bed or cleavage or other sensitive surfaces, lol....
