2 hides.
My BP uses his hide a lot, but i am not sure if i should get him another one. The size of the hides vs. the size of the tank that i have him in...he'll have almost no room to slither around, whithout a hide being in the way. I have him in a 20 gal. long, but the hide i have is quite big. He loves it though. It looks rocky, and he usus it to assist the start of his shed, and he loves sitting on it, and even more under it. He has no signs of being stressed out at all, should i go ahead and get him another, smaller hide? I have a cloth on 3 sides of the tank so he is not stressed out, and he looks comfortable slithering about.
oh, and a question about my RTB...he uses his hide, but he only sits on top of it...is that a security thing, or does he just like being able to survey "his land"? lol.
Thanks everybody!

Get him another hide. They love being in hides, and will use both. Mostly so he can regulate his tempurature without giving up their sense of security. Often they will risk being cold/over heated over giving up their hiding spot. My BP has room to slither around if he wants too, and even crawls over his hides.
If the hide is too big for this tank, you may have to opt to get two smaller ones, and then when you upgrade his tank, this larger one should fit along with another one.
My corn is never seen in his hides, generally on top of them, though I have caught him coming out of one, you may just have never seen our RTB inside of it. Don't get rid of it, as he probably does use it. Let him have the option.

Two absolutely identical hides is best - then all they have to choose is which temperature rather than which one they prefer the feel of.
My RTB has hides - sometimes she uses them, sometimes she stays outside - normally they don't worry much about hides.

Re: 2 hides.
I used a cat litter pan. It's big enough to sit halfway on the UTH and halfway off. There's your cool and warm hide. My bp is also in a 20g long cage and the litter pan takes up about half of the cage. Water bowl is on the other side. Kitty litter pan is also flat when you turn it upside down so I threw some aspen shavings on top of that so that there is more crawling room if needed. Just an idea.
