    Stinky Cage

I can't figure this one out. I TOTALLY cleaned the terrarium last week (10 days ago). Normally Fluffy's area stays clean except for occasional "spots". Even when he makes a big pee it is relatively easy to spot clean ( I use aspen ). However, last night when I was checking his home for deposits I was overwhelmed by stench. I was sure that there had to be something big in there, but I could not find anything.

The only difference that has occured is that I fed him an adult mouse on Friday (he used to eat crawlers). I cleaned the cage after his last shed, so I just can't figure it out.

Tonight I am going to totally clean it out. Perhaps he burrowed in the aspen an left his "stinky" burried.

Anyone have an experience like this?

This is one of the reasons I switched from using aspen to using newspaper Akiva. They can bury things here or there and with the warm, fairly humid environment of a snake cage, it gets gross fast. I think it was Adam that said when you use newspaper, "when it's clean you know it's clean" (or something to that effect).

If your cage stinks, clean it.

I use aspen but when I "spot" clean I move all of the bedding and move it around looking for any "hidden treasure" they think they might be able to hide from me.

You may need to start digging when you spot clean. If you don't want your fingers to come into contact with a nice little presant, try a kitty litter scoop.

I'm glad I use newspaper. So much easier to see. Except that my corn has taken to pooping under it.

I always wear disposable food handling gloves when I do anything in Fluffy's home.

Ah. I still get grossed out even wearing gloves. You'd think with the amount of cat poop/puke I have had to clean up, I wouldn't be, but I am. With a kitty litter scoop, well I find it easier to find things that are burried quite well in the litter box, so I thought it may transfer over.
