Well,
today was a feeding day for my snakes and I was fascinated in watching my large Mexican Kingsnakes consume one mouse, while at the same time constricting another mouse with the last third of his body. Really something to sit and watch how a snake can so deftly deal with multiple prey subjects at one time. I guess snakes have evolved this capability so that if they were ever to come across, say a nest of small mammals they would be able to make the most of the situation and...eat em all....!!! heh heh heh
I love watching my snakes eat - I do not get a chance to post on this forum as much as I would like too but I will let you all know that I am indeed a hardcore snake nut. I know all about em....!!!! I have been studying the venomous species since I got nailed by my Western Hognose back in May of this year....I was in the hospital for five days and I spent most of it watching
Discovery Channel and observing my arm turning different colors and whatnot.
Really got me interested in venoms and their effects on humans. Stupid little Hoggy jammed me up...heh heh....I think I have come to the firm conclusion that I would rather be bit by an Elapid like a Cobra and simply die from cardio-respiratory failure than to be chomped by a Viperid. Too much pain and severe tissue damage done by those types of venoms.
Crikey.....you should see my arm where I had to have the tissue debrided - I have a nice light purple scar running from my wrist to my elbow on the underside...and two distinct scars where my Hoggy latched on and started grinding her fangs in....so don't believe em when they tell you that Hoggys are totally harmless cuz they are NOT !!!!!!! Yikes......
Well, enough of me for awhile.....
