Anyone use the Crested Gecko Diet?

if you refridgerate your opened bottle of cgd it should last for several months with no problem. i go through about one of the big 2.5lb tubs every month and that lasts fine in my warm herp room.

i used to mix up bigger batches and freeze it in little mini ice cube trays i found at target too. that worked pretty well except that the mini cubes were hard to get out without a little hot water on the back of the tray to loosen them.

Anyone use the Crested Gecko Diet?

    Hi,
I'm about to buy my first crestie, and am pretty damn excited! Was just wondering though, I've seen this all-in-one crested gecko diet which is meant to provide them with all their nutritional needs (http://www.livefoods.co.uk/product_i...oducts_id=377). Does anyone else use this, and if so, how long does one tub last for one gecko? It seems nice and easy, but if its going to cost me more than insects and fruit I won't bother. If anyone could tell me how many days/weeks of feeding you can get from one tub that'd be awesome.
    Cheers

    Shotty

I feed 2 adults and 5 babies, and 50 grams lasts about 2-3 months. It's easy stuff to use. Just add a bit of water, and you have dinner for a day or two. Don't mix up too much as it will dry up or mold. Hope that helps.

I use that product too. It may take a day or two for your creasties to start to eat it......but after they do you shouldnt have any probs with it. I like it, easy to use. I found that if you use warm water to mix it sets up better and quicker too.

I use the small 50g (1.25 oz -I think) jar, but it does come in larger quantities.

I use the CGD mixed with baby food and water a few times per week and I supplement with crickets and now phoenix worms. Sometimes I mix the CGD with yogurt if I am out of baby food. My crestie is huge and healthy!

I use it for my crestie also. I mix it with water or baby food never thought of the yogurt that is a good idea It's not expensive. I got a jar for $4 and it is just down to 1/3 left and I have had it for almost 2 mths.
And don't freak if you do not see it eating.....like I do!
    Congrats on getting your crestie

Re: Anyone use the Crested Gecko Diet?

cheers for all the help everyone! Ill be able to feed my gecko for next-to-nothing in cost! One more thing, Ive read a lot of different things about substrates for cresties. I want to use something natural looking, any good suggestions?

I use Eco-Earth coco fiber with some long strand spagnahm moss mixed in. Works great, looks natural, inexpensive and holds moisture. they spend so little time on the ground mine never mess it up......LOL
